File Sharing Differences - Shazzle Vs. The Rest

October 28th, 2008 . by admin

Shazzle is not your normal file sharing program.  There are many differences that distinguish Shazzle to other file sharing programs on the market.  The largest example is that Shazzle is a “privatized file sharing application” vs. a “general file sharing application”.  Most file sharing programs create one large file sharing bucket that is shared by thousands to hundreds of thousands of users at once.  When describing a file sharing bucket, the definition we choose to use is; a library of files that is shared between one to many users.  Programs such as Limewire, Bear Share, Kazaa and others create one gigantic file sharing bucket allowing their entire user base to share files amongst themselves (see the green diagram below). All these applications do a fine job of sharing files in one large bucket.  But at Shazzle we feel there is a need to create smaller “file sharing buckets”.    For example, what if you and your friends want to have your very own bucket to share personal files, such as; music, videos and photos? Right now, it is nearly impossible to do using the current file sharing programs available on the market. This is where Shazzle comes in, Shazzle allows you to share in any size group you choose(see blue diagram below). If you have 10 friends you can create a community just for your 10 friends.  If you have 50 friends you can make a community for 50 of your friends.  Shazzle does not limit the type or size of files, you share within these groups.  No one other then users you invite can access your community.  Shazzle boasts itself on being the first truly privatized file sharing network.  Within these communities users can chat, create polls, use the community message board, post shoutouts and more.  The user experience is not just file sharing but also an advanced communications tool.
 Large Bucket File Sharing
Small Bucket File Sharing

Ease of uploading is also a problem in most file sharing programs.  Most of the big name file sharing applications (Kazaa, Bear Share, Limewire etc.) allow users to choose entire folders to share, but what if the user just wants to share a file or two but not the entire folder?  In programs such as BitTorrent and FTP Clients it is possible, but it is extremely cumbersome to do so.  For BitTorrent users a tracker is needed  (a server which assists in the communication between peers using the BitTorrent protocol) then other users must access these trackers so they are then pushed to a BitTorrent Index. The indexes publicize the tracker’s URL and allow users to upload torrents to the index with the tracker’s URL embedded in them.  BitTorrent as you can see is a complicated and time consuming process, if you don’t know what you are doing.  FTP Clients are fine, but present many issues to the common users.  FTP Servers can open up users to your hard drive and can eat up your bandwidth.   Also setting up FTP servers can be cumbersome as well, users must first set up the FTP server, then set access to folders on their hard drive.  Shazzle allows users to set up communities that can act like an FTP server in a matter of seconds. Users can then upload individual files or folders to the community with just the click of a button.  Shazzle also allows for drag and drop file sharing.  Drag files directly from Windows Explorer into Shazzle.  The upload is instantaneous with all members of your community.

Shazzle differentiates itself from the rest of the programs on the market for many reasons but the two biggest are: the ability to share with only people you trust and ease of uploading.  Don’t get us wrong, we love programs such as Limewire, BitTorrent and others, but we feel there is a place for us as well. If you and a bunch of your friends want to share files  just amongst yourselves with extreme ease, we think you’ll love Shazzle! So go on and download Shazzle!  It is free, no spyware, no adware, or any of that bad stuff so what do you have to lose?

Shazzle offers a direct connection that other programs don’t use.

July 23rd, 2008 . by admin

One of the best free p2p file sharing programs is offering you the ability to directly connect to other users so you can retrieve files as fast as possible. Most file sharing programs offer a large network that acts as an enormous bucket that allows you to retrieve files from. So say for example if you were doing your usual legal free music sharing and search for a particular song you’re interested in. Well then your p2p program will search the enormous network for the one file you’re looking for and even sometimes collect information from more than one peer for your download. Shazzle offers a direct connection that allows to peers to sort of “sync” up and create a tunnel effect thus not having to involve any other peers on the network. Pretty cool huh?

SHAZZLE GETS NEW USER INTERFACE?

May 30th, 2008 . by admin

The brilliant developers at Shazzle are hard at work right now finishing up the product so we can be ready for our private beta. We expect Shazzle to be one of the best free p2p file sharing programs in the market with out a doubt. However, we know that our beta is going to be extremely important for us to get feedback from actual users. We’ve been discussing a new user interface for the product with management and marketing, but we know the best feedback will come from our private beta users. So if your interested in new technology, file sharing, social networking, pretty much anything awesome – then go to our private beta sign up page to sign up. SHAZZLE COMMUNITIES GET MESSAGE BOARD, ALL REJOICE!

May 19th, 2008 . by admin

Hey great news Shazzle fans we got a message board to show ya!

Message Board

We realized that a message board was important to give our communities a more interactive feel. A cool feature to the message board is the ability to hide the post/reply editor where you post messages. The thinking at Shazzle was, if your not using it to post then why have it block your view from other posts? You’ll find this useful when your in our Shazzle Unsigned Band community and you want to leave your favorite bands a post! So now you have a message board to go along with the best file sharing program, your welcome.

SHAZZLE GETS NEW P2P ARCHITECTURE

May 8th, 2008 . by admin

NEW ARCHITECTURE

Good news! The developers at Shazzle have been working hard over the last couple of months to create a brand new p2p architecture to give Shazzle a huge advantage with file sharing. It is based off more of a bit torrent style which most of you know, however we have put our own twist on it. Shazzle uses relay servers that help cache downloads making it quicker to download, so the more friends your sharing with in your communities the faster the downloads! We know the huge digital photography buffs who share large photos will love it! And don’t worry, even though we’ve made all these improvements at Shazzle we’ll still be giving it away for free!
