About Us
What's Shazzle?
Shazzle is a free software application. It's also community-based. The application lets you share files (large or small: from videos and PDFs to photos and documents), communicate in real time (including instant messaging compatability; sign into your AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ messengers simultaneously), and browse the web from a single application.
How is it "Community Based?"
After you've downloaded Shazzle for free, you create or join a Shazzle community. Shazzle communities have been engineered to generate an unprecedented degree of personal connectivity. Communities come stock with: folders that allow you to store and share files, live community chat, instant messaging, a shout out (for scrolling announcements), and the ability to browse the web (you can also default a webpage as your community home page). Shazzle communities can be as accessible as the entire Shazzle population ("public"), or as exclusive as the friends, family, or coworkers you deign to grant access to ("private"). You can get a small group of friends together to create a private community that's password protected or invite-only. There's a “subscribe to a community” option just for this purpose. Subscribing to a community synchronizes you with a community and the community's content. This lets you have any and all uploaded files within that Shazzle community automatically downloaded onto your hard-drive. If you and four friends or you and your family go on a vacation, you can set up a private community and ensure that you get all the photos delivered to your desk top instantly. Or set up a Shazzle community for co-workers and colleagues. Password protect it, and share large files, communicate as a group and/or one on one, and access any web-based content. If you're skeptical about certain files or community members within a public community, you can “join" that community, leaving you the option of picking and choosing which files you download. There's also a “just visiting” alternative that allows you to peruse content and chat with members without your showing up on the community memberlist.
That's Shazzle in a nut shell, but the application really is dynamic, and there are a lot of interesting uses for and features of the program. If you're interested, or you still have questions, here are some other places on the site where you can find more information:
